Rio 2011

ok so when i say Rio im pretty sure no one out there is gonna get the impression that im talking abt Rio de Janeiro where the FIFA World Cup is to be held in 2014 but im talking about the box office hit movie Rio!!!

few days back i had the privilege of watching Rio... and what can i say.. it jst fulfilled my expectations for a good animated movie after a long time..

the graphics was awesome.. a nice storyline.. and the music just mind blowing... the comedy... the way the film has been made all just proves that animated movies can also do a good job..

basically the movie is about an endangered bird who is taken to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to mate with the female of it and the adventures that the bird goes thru in the city of Rio...

its amazing at certain times to see what love can do you see.. true love also exists in animals.. not only with humans this movie shows.. but we all know the bitter truth that true love is very rarely seen in humans these days compared to animals... what animals do at times to protect their loved ones... altho the movie is a comedy movie, it also gives a deep meaning or rather a lesson out to everyone...

the movie at start is kinda boring.. i would say the first 10 or 20 mins.. but then after that you wont even realize that the time is passing coz it gets sooo interesting...

so without dragging much, jst telling u.. go and watch the bloody movie... but watch it only if ur into comedy, animation and some fun!! lyk action movies only?? this is definitely nt for u..

so my rating for this movie is 7/10... 3 reduced for certain mistakes here n there n for certain logical contradictions... but then overall, its a family entertainer.. go and watch it!!

When was the last time you went to a party/event and had a great time without having to pose with your friends for 10 different photographers?? When was the last time you went to a concert and was able to enjoy the show without your view being blocked by around 25 photographers?? Its obvious that Sri Lanka has gone through a "DSLR" boom and all the rich kids who used to own a decent digital camera now run around with a big ass camera of which they dont event know how to use 90% of the controls. And then there is the photography craze. Any event you go, there's at least 5 photographers from 5 different "online media" taking your pictures and publishing them god knows where. Seriously, WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO PRIVACY? Any event you go to now a days, you have photographers. Photographers trying to beat the other photographer in getting that special shot that would get people to come to "their" facebook page and click "like" on it.

2017 Sri Lankan Holidays - Google Calendar ICS File

Its nearly the end of 2016 and as usual I was trying to find the Sri Lankan Holidays calendar for 2017 to add to my work and personal calendars. But unfortunately, I couldnt find one. So, I decided to make one on my own. Thankfully, some good guy out there ( I really cant remember his name) made this calendar for a few years which I've been using so I just copied the old events to a new calendar and changed their dates according to the dates published on the holidays list by the Ministry of Public Administration and Home Affairs ( http://www.pubad.gov.lk/web/index.php?option=com_latestdocument&documenttype=8&lang=en ) So, here you go. 11/11/2010 - The Day That Colombo Went Underwater!!

its been long since i wrote so decided to write something to write!! and indeed its a very interesting topic to write about!!! and as the title suggests im writing abt the day that Colombo, the Financial Capital of Sri Lanka was submerged in water after just 10 hrs of rain!!! what a day it was!! it all started on the 10th of November at around 8.00pm i guess when it started with a mild rain and then the thundering started.. along came the lightening also which is obvious (:P)... then the rain started to grow gradually... by around 11.00pm the thundering and lightening stops but not the rain which shows no signs of stopping... colombo goes to sleep... come next day and colombo wakes upto the news that Colombo has come to a half halt as many areas in Colombo have gone underwater due to the rain... roads all blocked.. schools closed after children come to skool in the morning for the term tests (term tests for public skools were to start on this day).. offices closed.. vehicles floating
