The world goes mad when 200 girls are kidnapped. When women are raped. When USA is attacked. When UK is attacked. When a plane vanishes from earth. When journalists are jailed. But when #Gaza is attacked, no one cares about it, its not a human rights violations, its not a war crime to hit hospitals, ambulances, disability support centers, houses and kill women and children mercilessly while playing on the streets, sleeping after staying up for hours. Where are all the Human Right protectors?? Where are all the petitioners?? Where are all the human right organizations? Why is everyone silent when it comes to #Gaza?? Is it because you dont get enough $$$ to talk against these issues? Is it because your afraid your big posh offices in US and UK will be shut down if you talk against it? When girls being kidnapped, women being raped, journalists being jailed are considered crimes worth of international attention, how come killing humans, bombing houses, destroying communities, target...

The Grand Finale of the V-Awards show was held 2 weeks ago on the 21st of January 2012 at the Stien Studios in Ratmalana where Dr.Sinniah Devananthan won the award for the Volunteer of the Year 2011... like the previous show, i too was part of it yet again.. great memories and awesome experience... will write in length about it in a different post when i get time, but for now, watch and enjoy the full show in this post below if you missed watching it live..

Like ive stated in my previous posts, V Awards is an awards ceremony to award the volunteers of Sri Lanka. The first part of the ceremony which is to announce the finalists was held on the 5th of December 2011 at Stien Studio's in Ratmalana in a very glamorous event. The Grand Finale of the ceremony is coming up next weekend on the 21st of January 2012 which is hoped to be a even bigger event. If you've been watching Sirasa TV, Channel One MTV or Shakthi TV or listened to the radio stations also owned by the same network over the past few months you would have seen or heard about V-Awards. A one of a kind and also the first of a kind event in Sri Lanka this is. Its been almost a week now since Google, one of the biggest tech company in the World and the Market leader in Web Search launched their next attempt at Social Networking.. Google Plus..  most of you guys out there might be wondering why I said "Yet Another Attempt" in my title.. well this isnt the first time for Google.. as far as my knowledge goes and as far as I found out, Google's first attempt at Social Networking was way back in 2004.. exactly 11 days before the now famous Facebook started.. this service of Google was launched under the name Orkut. its been 7 yrs nw since they launched and its actually been doing pretty good.. Orkut hasnt captured the world over but surely has captured two of the largest markets Brazil n India from where they get majority of the 100million+ users.. Orkut is pretty much doing good.. I too had an account in there.. but I dont remember the last time i logged into that thing except before writing this post to check on whats ha...

ok so when i say Rio im pretty sure no one out there is gonna get the impression that im talking abt Rio de Janeiro where the FIFA World Cup is to be held in 2014 but im talking about the box office hit movie Rio!!! few days back i had the privilege of watching Rio... and what can i say.. it jst fulfilled my expectations for a good animated movie after a long time.. the graphics was awesome.. a nice storyline.. and the music just mind blowing... the comedy... the way the film has been made all just proves that animated movies can also do a good job.. basically the movie is about an endangered bird who is taken to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to mate with the female of it and the adventures that the bird goes thru in the city of Rio... its amazing at certain times to see what love can do you see.. true love also exists in animals.. not only with humans this movie shows.. but we all know the bitter truth that true love is very rarely seen in humans these days compared to animals... wha...

With just 2 days to go for the most prestigious cricketing event in the world almost all preparations have been done.. The fans have already gone crazy... Not a single day passes by without the media talking abt it.. yes my friends... its once again time to celebrate.. once again its time to enjoy... the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 is back.. and this time its being held in 3 places where cricket is second to no other sport.. India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh!! Its the largest cricketing event in the world. hey there... well might be wondering what exactly this post is all about eh?? it also something out of the box from the kind of posts that i post.. well nothing much.. in the recent past there has been a lot of talk in SL about porn or rather pornography... especially internet porn. of course i dont think i need to tell you what porn is eh? if you dont know then its better that you stop reading now and go and find out what porn is and then come back. well all this "halabaloo" in the country started if im not wrong last year.. when the government decided to start banning porn websites in Sri Lanka as they apparently wernt good for the Sri Lankan culture and etc etc.... and starting this year the police along with the TRC have started banning porn websites... that too in batches of 50 or 100... good.. very good... then there were news reports during last week where local porn actors and actresses were identified and their photos published on newspapers and apparently few of ...

its been long since i wrote so decided to write something to write!! and indeed its a very interesting topic to write about!!! and as the title suggests im writing abt the day that Colombo, the Financial Capital of Sri Lanka was submerged in water after just 10 hrs of rain!!! what a day it was!! it all started on the 10th of November at around 8.00pm i guess when it started with a mild rain and then the thundering started.. along came the lightening also which is obvious (:P)... then the rain started to grow gradually... by around 11.00pm the thundering and lightening stops but not the rain which shows no signs of stopping... colombo goes to sleep... come next day and colombo wakes upto the news that Colombo has come to a half halt as many areas in Colombo have gone underwater due to the rain... roads all blocked.. schools closed after children come to skool in the morning for the term tests (term tests for public skools were to start on this day).. offices closed.. vehicles floating ...

OMG!!!! What can I say.. Im actually speechless... missed the live coverage of the Opening Ceremony yesterday and after some time searching on the web finally found a good recorded version of it and just finished watching it!!! AND NOW IM SPEECHLESS!!! WHAT AN OPENING CEREMONY IT WAS!!! one ceremony that ive watched which was complete... Matched or probably exceeded the standards set by the 2008 Olympics Opening Ceremony in China two years ago!!! it was wonderful.. the music, the choreography, the dance, the rhythms, the lights, the fireworks, the... what can I say... it was complete.. everything in place with very very few errors!!!! every culture that I know that existed in India plus even more were showcased!!! im just out of words to express what I saw in the video!! imagine, its so spectacular watching it on video.. how would it have been to watch it live sitting inside the stadium!!! WOW!! that is one experience that I someday want to have!! Let me give my comments on the cere...
