Group Works, Group Study, Projects, Submissions, Presentations... one busy month!!!

hey there to all...

firstly let me wish all my tamil friends out there a VERY HAPPY THAIPONGAL!! sorry guys.. have been sooooooo busy that i couldnt make a card this time...

now back to the topic.. JANUARY 2011!! WHAT A MONTH THIS HAS BEEN!!!! damn... started off with project submissions... first day after holidays, its submissions!!! so how do we enjoy the so called "holidays" of "one week" eh?? n e way with that off, another submission a week later.. a day later, a presentation.. another 2 days later another submission AND a presentation... now next week another submission but thanks to our dear lecturer that has been postponed by 5 days!! <phew!!!>

any way.. it has all been a fun experience.. after all the "halabaloo" jst b 4 da holidays which was from 24th to da 2nd.. the holidays kinda went smoothly with v gathering up at almost every1's house for a group study or group work sessions.. thasi, tiffi, mine, tabi, maliths... hmmm... missed da other's houses... in the name of group study all da fun v had... of course we did study.. not forgetting that... helping each other with our projects... personally i would like to thank Dulz n Thasi for da help given to me in da NML project.. it was jst the perfect definition for "Sharing and Caring"

its been 3 long weeks... sleepless or less sleep nyts... 8-5 at APIIT.. then again from 9pm-2am online doing da work.. gosh.. today was da only day i slept so much.. havnt slept so much in da past 3 weeks... nw feeling soo relaxed.. n its only perfect that i shud take a rest for a day or two n then start on the final assignment due on da 25th.. its C Programming.. my fav subject this semester.. so lets hope all goes well...

and then in addition to the submissions,  presentations... damn.. another thing.. i just learned that you dont need to freak out so much when preparing for a presentation.. reasons being .. hope thasi, tabi n dulz learnt dat too.. coz they were da most freaked out ppl abt da presentation...

and in addition to all this, the weather!!! damn... i cant believe that it was almost 15 C on da 12th... it was FREEZING!!! N'Eliya went down to almost 6 C!!! i wonder how in the world ppl say that the world is experiencing Global Warming when its actually becoming more and more cool!!! i havnt switched on the fan in my room in the past two days!!! its soooo cold!!! and then the floods in the central, north central and the eastern parts of the country... almost 800k ppl displaced.. 50odd lives lost upto now.. its all happening this month!! its all happening!!! lets hope that it all just returns to normal soon!!

so long for now... meeting up with friends today after sometime...

When was the last time you went to a party/event and had a great time without having to pose with your friends for 10 different photographers?? When was the last time you went to a concert and was able to enjoy the show without your view being blocked by around 25 photographers?? Its obvious that Sri Lanka has gone through a "DSLR" boom and all the rich kids who used to own a decent digital camera now run around with a big ass camera of which they dont event know how to use 90% of the controls. And then there is the photography craze. Any event you go, there's at least 5 photographers from 5 different "online media" taking your pictures and publishing them god knows where. Seriously, WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO PRIVACY? Any event you go to now a days, you have photographers. Photographers trying to beat the other photographer in getting that special shot that would get people to come to "their" facebook page and click "like" on it.

11/11/2010 - The Day That Colombo Went Underwater!!

its been long since i wrote so decided to write something to write!! and indeed its a very interesting topic to write about!!! and as the title suggests im writing abt the day that Colombo, the Financial Capital of Sri Lanka was submerged in water after just 10 hrs of rain!!! what a day it was!! it all started on the 10th of November at around 8.00pm i guess when it started with a mild rain and then the thundering started.. along came the lightening also which is obvious (:P)... then the rain started to grow gradually... by around 11.00pm the thundering and lightening stops but not the rain which shows no signs of stopping... colombo goes to sleep... come next day and colombo wakes upto the news that Colombo has come to a half halt as many areas in Colombo have gone underwater due to the rain... roads all blocked.. schools closed after children come to skool in the morning for the term tests (term tests for public skools were to start on this day).. offices closed.. vehicles floating

2017 Sri Lankan Holidays - Google Calendar ICS File

Its nearly the end of 2016 and as usual I was trying to find the Sri Lankan Holidays calendar for 2017 to add to my work and personal calendars. But unfortunately, I couldnt find one. So, I decided to make one on my own. Thankfully, some good guy out there ( I really cant remember his name) made this calendar for a few years which I've been using so I just copied the old events to a new calendar and changed their dates according to the dates published on the holidays list by the Ministry of Public Administration and Home Affairs ( http://www.pubad.gov.lk/web/index.php?option=com_latestdocument&documenttype=8&lang=en ) So, here you go. Download the ICS file from the link below and just import it into your calendars add the holidays. The calendar is set to Sri Lanka as location and GMT 5:30+ as the time zone.
